A laceration is just a fancy word for a cut. Nerve lacerations can be caused by broken glass, a knife, or any other sharp object. The most telling symptom is numbness. Depending on what nerve is cut and where, treatment may involve surgery to repair the nerve, splinting to allow the nerve to try to heal, or treatment to just help the cut in the skin heal, if the nerve cannot be repaired. You and Dr. Yu will discuss your particular injury, and determine the best possible treatment for you.
