Tendon laceration or rupture

A laceration is just a fancy word for a cut. Tendon lacerations can be caused by broken glass, a knife, a sharp edge like the top of an opened can. A tendon ruptures when it is pulled apart or off the bone it attaches to. This can happen during sports, riding a horse, or even just walking your dog. Tendon injuries may require splinting, or sometimes surgery to restore the function of the tendon. Each tendon injury requires individual evaluation. You and Dr. Yu will discuss your injury and determine the best possible treatment for an optimal outcome.
